Kill the Dragon - Part 6 (Distraction)

TABLE TALK

Scripture Engagement:

  • Luke 12:1-12

  • Mark 12:30-31

  • Nehemiah 4:12; 6:1-4

  • Hebrews 12:1-2

Main Points: (Distraction)

  1. Distracted in our ATTENTION

    • The Religious spirit doesn’t care what you’re doing as long as it’s not “the Father’s business.”

    • It is possible to be busy FOR God but not busy WITH God.

  2. Distracted in our AFFECTION

    • This makes the difference between service to God that burns you out and service that lights you up.

    • The Religious Spirit COMPLICATES things. Jesus SIMPLIFIES things.

  3. Distracted in our MISSION

  • Keep you eyes on the prize and your hand to the plow.

  • Stop the noise. Hear the voice.

Questions for Discussion:

  1. What is the Father saying to you?

  2. In what ways have you been distracted?

  3. What will you do to eliminate distraction from your life?

“Take courage. Stand firm. Do not shrink back a single step. Do not delay for a single instant. Leave the enemy no illusion. Show him that he is wasting his time and effort with you. Through the welcome you give him, force him to recognize within the disciple the Master who defeated him in the wilderness." - Adolphe Monod

Praying Together:

Thank Him. What can we thank Him for?

Praise Him. What is one thing about who Jesus is that we can praise Him about?

Ask Him. What is a need we have or an area in which we would like to see God break through.

Listen to Him: What is on God’s heart about your need. What is He saying to you?
