The Road to Revival

TABLE TALK

A dinner table discussion guide for your family and friends.

Discussion:  What about Sunday’s message impacted you the most?

Scripture Engagement:

This is what the Lord says to Israel:

“Seek me and live;
do not seek Bethel,
do not go to Gilgal,
do not journey to Beersheba.
For Gilgal will surely go into exile,

and Bethel will be reduced to nothing. Amos 5:4-5 NIV

“I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
 your assemblies are a stench to me.

Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.

Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.

But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream! Amos 5:21-24 NIV

Main Points:

Bethel: A place of encounter became a place of idolatry.

Gilgal: A place of celebration became a place of separation.

Beer-Sheba: A place of promise became a place of presumption.

Questions for Discussion:

  1. What are the defining encounters you have had with God?

  2. Are you living with an expectation of encountering God every day?

  3. How can worship become a bad thing?

  4. How do you know you are walking “with” God? What are the marks of a disciple?

Praying Together:

Thank Him. What can we thank Him for?

Praise Him. What is one thing about who Jesus is that we can praise Him about?

Ask Him. What is a need we have or an area in which we would like to see God break through.

Listen to Him: What is on God’s heart about your need. What is He saying to you?
